When Jesus entered the home of Martha, Mary and their family, the sisters responded to His presence in very different ways.

Martha was occupied with serving and preparing for their guest. Mary chose to sit at the Saviour's feet and listen.

This sculpture captures that familiar scene from Luke 10:38–42, bringing together the three central figures and the domestic setting in which the story took place.

Two sisters. Two responses. One Saviour.

The beauty of this account is that it invites us to think beyond the surface of the story. Martha was serving. Mary was listening. Jesus recognised what each was doing, but His words to Martha invite us to consider what we choose to give our attention to. This miniature is intended to encourage that reflection.

The Design

More than three figures

The sculpture was designed as a complete scene rather than a collection of individual characters. Christ sits at the centre of the composition, with Mary positioned at His feet and Martha standing nearby with the food she has prepared. Small details help establish the setting: Martha carrying the prepared food. The serving table. Bread and vessel. The water jug. The floor covering. The different postures of Mary and Martha. These details aren't simply decoration. They help tell the story.

Even without a title, the intention is that the viewer can begin to understand what is happening.

Handcrafted in 3D

Each sculpture is produced using high-resolution 3D printing and carefully finished by hand. The sculpture is printed in a bone-white/ivory finish to give it the appearance of a small traditional sculptural study while retaining the fine detail possible with modern 3D printing. Every piece is individually produced, checked and finished rather than being a mass-produced ornament.
