Every model begins long before the printer starts.
The majority of the work is completed before the first layer is ever printed.
Unlike many commercially available 3D prints, these models are not produced from downloaded files. Each one starts as an original CAD model, carefully created in SketchUp CAD software using publicly available architectural drawings, photographs and reference images.
Hours are spent researching the building, interpreting architectural drawings and photographs, and carefully recreating the building as accurately as possible. Often, architectural details must be pieced together from multiple sources before modelling can even begin.
Many components are printed several times before the correct balance between architectural accuracy and reliable printing is achieved.
Creating the digital model is only the first step.
Each design is test printed, inspected and refined. Small architectural details may be adjusted several times to ensure they print cleanly while remaining faithful to the proportions and character of the original building.
This iterative process often requires multiple prototype prints before a design is ready for production.
Once a design is complete, each model is individually 3D printed in our home workshop.
After printing, components are carefully cleaned, assembled where necessary and inspected before being offered for sale. Production is intentionally low volume, allowing every piece to receive the attention it deserves.
When you purchase one of these models, you are not simply buying a piece of printed plastic.
You are investing in many hours of architectural research, original CAD design, careful refinement and craftsmanship, resulting in a unique keepsake that celebrates some of the world's most beautiful and sacred architecture.
