Jesus does not answer them immediately. Instead, He stoops and writes upon the ground.
Then He speaks words that have become some of the most recognisable in the New Testament:
“He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.”
One by one, the accusers leave. Jesus is left with the woman. This sculpture captures that quiet but powerful moment. A moment of mercy The power of this account is not simply in what Jesus says. It is in what happens afterwards. The people who had come ready to condemn her are confronted with their own imperfections.
The scene invites us to consider how quickly we judge others — and how differently we might see people when we remember our own need for mercy.
The sculpture is deliberately composed around the relationship between Christ and the woman. She sits beside Him, while Christ reaches towards the ground, recalling the moment when He wrote in the dust. The stones scattered across the ground help establish the setting and represent the accusation that brought her there. More than an illustration
As with the other Scripture Miniatures, this isn't intended to claim that this is exactly how the scene looked.
We don't know what Jesus looked like. We don't know what the woman looked like. We don't know exactly how they were positioned or what was written upon the ground. What we have is the scriptural account. The sculpture provides one visual interpretation of that account. And perhaps that is where the real value of the piece lies.
Rather than asking “Is this what the scene actually looked like?” it invites another question:
“What does this scripture ask me to think about?”
Designed to tell the story
The scene has been designed so that the story is communicated through the poses, positioning and interaction of the figures. Christ's posture draws attention towards the ground. The woman is positioned beside Him rather than simply standing as a separate figure. The scattered stones establish the context of the encounter. The result is intended to remain recognisable as a scriptural scene even without a title or accompanying explanation.
Each sculpture is individually produced using high-resolution 3D printing and finished by hand. The bone-white/ivory finish emphasises the sculptural form and fine details of the figures, clothing and surrounding ground.

The Scripture Miniatures collection explores significant moments from scripture through small-scale sculptural scenes. The aim isn't to create definitive portraits of scriptural people. It is to create physical prompts for reflection. The temple models are designed to inspire thought about the temple. The Scripture Miniatures are designed to inspire thought about the scriptures.
Each piece takes a familiar passage and gives it physical form, something you can look at from different angles and perhaps think about in a different way.
